FAQ

We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions by our patients. We will keep this current and update as more questions arise. If you cannot find your answers here, please call the office for assistance.

Do I need an appointment?

We do not accommodate walk-in patients and request that you call to book an appointment or head to our website www.oakgatemedical.ca to request an appointment booking online. Registered patients can also use their Medeo app to request an appointment. We only service patients who are registered to one of the doctors and who have a booked appointment.

Will I be able to get an appointment today?

Our administrative team manages a large call volume each day. 9:30am-10:30am and 1pm-2pm are exceptionally busy times, especially on Mondays or after a holiday long weekend. If your call is not of an urgent nature, please try to call mid-morning or late afternoon for assistance. If you have an acute condition and need to be seen and cannot get through on the phone, you can request an appointment online by visiting www.oakgatemedical.ca or through your Medeo App. Your request will be triaged by our trained administrative staff and if necessary, a same day appointment will be scheduled for you either in-office or virtually.

Are voicemail messages checked and returned?

Yes, of course they are. Keeping in mind that our administrative team manages a large call volume, voicemails left during business hours are triaged and returned at our first opportunity. Please refrain from leaving multiple messages as it takes more time to retrieve the messages. It is advisable to leave a voicemail message rather than calling multiple times.

Why does the administrative team ask what my health concern is when booking an appointment?

In order to see your physician you must make an appointment. It is necessary for our team to ask questions regarding the nature of your visit to assess your needs and urgency of your appointment. Our team has been trained to follow the policies provided by your physician and have signed confidentiality agreements to ensure your information is protected.

Are Dr. Dragan or Dr. Gvozdic accepting patients?

At this time the Doctors are not accepting new patients. For help finding a new Family Practitioner please visit https://www.halton.ca/For-Residents/Public-Health/Halton-Physicians-Accepting-New-Patients for a list of Doctors who are accepting.

Do you have evening appointments?

Yes, we offer evening hours on Tuesday and Thursday until 6:30pm, by appointment only. You must be registered with the clinic to book an appointment.

Can I book a phone call or video appointment with my doctor?

Yes and no. We do offer virtual appointments to our registered patients. Patients of Dr. Dragan can request an appointment directly from our website, from their Medeo App, or by calling the administrative staff to schedule a virtual appointment. Patients of Dr. Gvozdic will need to call into the office to request a virtual care appointment and these appointments are doctor initiated virtual appointments at this time.

There is no longer a mask mandate in Halton, why are masks mandatory in your medical clinic?

Wearing a mask continues to be an effective public health measure for reducing the spread of COVID-19. The risk of infection and severe disease is greater for some individuals than others, including those who are immunocompromised, those with underlying health conditions and older adults. We are a family doctor’s office therefore we see patients from Infancy to elderly. *Please bring your own mask and have your mask on before entering.

Can I ask for medical advice via email?

Our general email is not secure therefore we ask that you refrain from seeking medical advice or requesting prescriptions via email. The email is for requesting a call back from a member of the administrative staff or sending forms (PDF only) or images at the request of a staff member or Doctor.

Do I have to pay for parking?

Here at OakGate Medical we do not validate parking. The Doctors are aware of the cost incurred by patients attending their appointments and endeavor to keep their scheduled appointments on time. You can help by ensuring that all parties have a scheduled appointment before arriving to the clinic. There is a waiting zone out-front of the building that someone stop and wait for you that is free of charge or alternatively, you can find loads of free parking at the plaza across Dundas St (at your own risk). Parking fees can be found on our Location Page here.
