Dusanka Gvozdic MD CCFP
A passion for helping others led me down the path of Medicine into a career that allows me to provide my patients with high quality healthcare. As a professional Family Practice Physician, I bring a holistic approach to medicine in order to find comfortable and effective solutions for everyone.
I was born in former Yugoslavia and worked as a fully licensed physician there. In Canada, I started working in research at McGill University on the subjects of cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and diagnosis of hypertension in primary care while finishing all requirements for my independent practice license. I completed residency in Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. I have a strong interest in the welfare of all of my patients and their life circumstances, and find joy in providing care to people through all stages of their lives. I hold privileges within Halton's hospitals where I assist in surgical procedures frequently.
Recently, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked tirelessly in the community's Assessment and Vaccination clinics.

This quote has guided me through all my years of practicing medicine, from my med school and 10 years of practice in my home country Romania, and continuing through all my Canadian medical experience both as a public health and a family physician. My residency training in Family Medicine and Public Health and Preventive Medicine at McMaster University added fresh, solid knowledge to my practical skills, and also better understanding on how to empower people to stay healthy and well, by listening and guiding them to do what's best for them, and to prevent rather than treat the disease.
I really enjoy my comprehensive family practice "from cradle to grave" and I put a lot of energy and passion in all my day to day work.
I strongly believe that all people in Halton deserve access to high-quality, equitable, effective patient-centered care. Since 2021 I've taken a leadership role as part of the executive committee of the Halton Physician Association, working tirelessly toward facilitating our physicians help our communities solve complex healthcare problems.
